Dental Crowns are used to restore, reshape or change the colour of an underlying tooth. They can be made from gold, metal alloy or porcelain or any of those combinations. The underlying tooth is shaped first then moulds are taken for a specialist dental technician to fabricate your dental crowns.
The dental technician takes 2-3 weeks to fabricate the Dental crowns. When we have the dental crowns back we firstly check that everything is ok in terms of fit, colour and bite. Once we are satisfied the Tooth crown is cemented into place.
Tooth sensitivity is common after fitting of the dental crowns so don't be to alarmed as this usually settles within 2 days. Tooth Crowns are necessary for all back teeth that have had root canal treatment as well teeth that require rebuilding and cosmetic enhancement.
